The new Malrun album is written with the ambition of incorporating the touring experiences Malrun gained in 2012/2013 from interacting with the European live audience. As a result, Malrun has made the new songs more “immediately accessible” to the listener as well as the live audience. The music has kept all of its technical elements but is basically written more intelligently to ensure that the audience will instantly feel and understand the music. The new album is a lot more metal and “raw” in its composition than Malrun’s prior albums, yet at the same time without a doubt also the most melodic album Malrun has ever made. The band spent a lot of energy and time finding the exact right balance and blend and, as a result, the new album caters to both the metal audience and the rock audience at the same time, and has good and wide sales potential.
In the process of writing the new album Malrun has also worked hard on sharpening its visuals, theme colors, lyrical themes, stage show etc. based on the new brand “Dark Erotics” and as such, a carefully thought through package is being prepared at the moment. However, the label is being invited to participate in the finalization of the entire package prior to release to ensure mutual focus on enhanced commercial appeal.
The new album is produced, mixed and mastered by Jacob Hansen (Volbeat), and the US artist Travis Smith (Katatonia, Opeth, Avenged Sevenfold) is currently working on album artwork - although it is still possible for the label to influence on the direction to be taken as a part of the mutual preparation of the brand package.
